Poe had to take care of his wife Virginia for almost two years after she contracted tuberculosis. This was one of the most difficult times of his life. He was depressed, and frequently remained drunk. He did, however, write some of his most memorable stories and poems during this time. For this activity, you are to compose a five day journal which might capture Poe's thoughts and fears. You may use materials from Mrs. Johnson's room including construction paper, white paper, rulers, scissors, glue, markers, colored pencils, or you can use the computer. See Mrs. Johnson if you need materials to take home.
