Nashville, Tenn., to enhance music curriculum
Nashville, Tenn., schools will expand the music curriculum in elementary and middle schools next year to include courses in songwriting, rock band and hip-hop, along with recording and disc jockey remixing. The Music Makes Us initiative will tap into the resources of the city's music industry and the new courses will be introduced to high schools the following year. "We know that kids who play musical instruments stay in school, we know they perform better on standardized tests. We know these things," said Jesse Register, superintendent.
