Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to East Coweta Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year!  Our community school provides an excellent educational opportunity for each student as we seek to fulfill our vision "to ensure the success of each student."  We have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three years in a row, and you will quickly learn that "EC Expects Excellence" in the classrooms and on the athletic fields. 

As we unite to prepare students for success in high school, college, and careers during their middle school years, I would like to offer some helpful suggestions for parents:

Support good attendance to maximize instructional time in the classroom.

Support good study habits by providing a time and place to study at home and by helping your student with homework and with test preparation.

Support proper rest and nutrition to ensure your student gets to bed at a reasonable time and eats properly to maintain good health.

Encourage involvement in at least one extracurricular activity to help the student feel good about himself or herself by promoting self-confidence and a sense of belonging.

Communicate with your student about school daily to demonstrate that you value education.

Communicate with the school regularly as we work together as a team to set your student up for success.

Our faculty and staff are committed to excellence.  We have high expectations to encourage each student to do his or her best, and we appreciate parent and community support in helping students reach this goal.  I look forward to a wonderful school year.
