Coweta Board of Education begins process of appointing new Board Member
The Coweta County Board of Education will begin its process of appointing a new member to an open at-large seat on the board in August, with the intention of completing that process in September.
The Board of Education will consider all candidates who have submitted their names for the seat vacated earlier this year by Board Member April Parker. The seat is an at-large position covering all of Coweta County, with a term extending through December 31, 2013.
It is the responsibility of the Coweta County Board of Education to appoint a successor to any board seat vacated before the completion of the term. A candidate must be a resident of the county and eligible for service according to applicable Georgia state laws.
“A number of individuals have already contacted us to be considered for the open seat,” said Superintendent Steve Barker.
Candidates are being asked to complete a questionnaire to help current board members thoroughly review all who are interested. Packets with those questions are available at the Superintendent’s office through Friday, August 3, at 5:00 p.m.
“We are fairly confident that those who are most interested in serving have already reached out to us, but we are making this process available to any other who might be interested,” said Barker.
