Welcome back to the School of Champions™ and another year of educational opportunity! We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to the relationships that will continue to develop and grow among our staff, students, and parents. This past year Lee was designated as a National School to Watch™ and a Georgia Lighthouse School™ by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Level Education. Lee was one of 46 schools designated with this prestigious honor and the only Georgia middle school to be honored. Our scores on the state mandated CRCT were our highest since becoming a school in 2006. Lee did well under the state’s CCRPI (formerly Adequate Yearly Progress) as part of the No Child Left Behind Law (NCLB). On the Georgia Eighth Grade Writing Assessment our students set a new school record on “Exceeds” on the assessment. The 2011-2012 school year was a great one for the students in athletics and academics at Lee. The Timberwolves won the Coweta County Middle School Athletic League (CCMSAL) in volleyball (two years in a row), girls’ basketball (four years in a row), and girls’ track (four undefeated seasons in a row). The Wolves were regular season champions in football, volleyball, girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball and girls’ track. The boys’ track team was runner-ups in the CCMSAL and the girls’ and boys’ soccer teams made the semi-finals of the CCMSAL Cup. The academic bowl team placed second in the West Georgia RESA Region and was the Coweta County Middle Schools Runner-ups for 2011-2012. Because of these successes, Lee Middle School was presented with the CCMSAL Trophy of Excellence for the third consecutive year. In addition two LMS students received first places in the Georgia State Science Fair in Athens while several Lee students received accolades for their literary publications and success in Young Georgia Authors. As a school family, we have many challenges to meet during the 2012-2013 school year. The new Common Core Curriculum is being implemented across the nation. In September our school will be going through the five-year GAPSS evaluation as a part of the district’s AdvancEd evaluation. As principal of this great school, I know that we will meet these challenges successfully. Thank you for sending us outstanding students to The School of Champions™. This is going to be a great year! WE ARE LEE and we are famiLEE!
