Guidance and Counselingcounseling
Middle school is a very difficult time for most students. It is a time of personal exploration, a time to seek out one's own identity, and physiologically it's a time of rapid growth. Together, these attributes of the middle school aged student produces much insecurity and fear. The Madras counseling team's goal is to create an environment where each and every student is able to find confidence in themselves and believe in their own competence as learners.
Our counselors provide support and services in a variety of ways:

  • academic skills support
  • study and test-taking skills
  • career options and planning
  • educational development
  • coping strategies for students who have undergone some element of stress or tragedy assistance in overcoming emotional and social problems or concerns which may interfere with learning
  • development of students' abilities to create positive peer relationships
  • individual and group counseling
  • classroom and small group guidance
  • parent and teacher consultation and referral
  • program planning
