ABOUT US:


Newnan Crossing Elementary was established in 1990 and served 914 students for the 2012 school year. Since redistricting six years ago, our school has added 268 new students.  In 2012 we were recognized as a Title I Distinguished School – for making AYP (adequate yearly progress) for nine years in a row because of our CRCT scores and we received the high honor for our CRCT scores by receiving the  Platinum Award in the 2008 Single Statewide Accountability System. Last year we sponsored Open House, Science/Math Night, Safe Graduation, Academic Bowl, Veteran’s Day Program, Science Fair for 5th grade, Kindergarten Sight Word Night; CRCT Night, Math/ Reading Workshop, Homework/Time Management Workshop, Safety Workshop, Student Performances & End of Year Performances, Field Day, Spelling Bee, Beta Club, Chorus, Honor Chorus, Eagle News Team, Student of the Months, prizes for our Honor Roll recipients each 9 weeks, Classroom Attendance Awards, 5th Grade Luncheon, and contributed 8074 cans to our local can-a-thon, $3000 to the American Cancer Society and participated in Relay for Life. We had two 5th grade winners in the GYSTC Regional Science Fair and 12 students participated in the annual Coweta County Honor Chorus.  We received the Excellence Award for the Highest Student Attendance for 6th and 8th Enrollment Period of all Coweta Elementary Schools and received the Excellence Award for the Highest Certified Staff Attendance for 2nd Enrollment Period of all Coweta Elementary Schools.  Technology continues to be a focus at Newnan Crossing.  All classrooms are equipped with interactive boards (promethean boards).  Our school received the Build Your Dream ActivClassrooom Matching Grant from Promethean with PTO assistance and received two Activ slates and three sets of Activ Expression Learner (Student) Responders which are interactive with our Promethean Boards.  We purchased six I-pads and 2 I-pods to be used for classroom instruction.  Also, two Ipads were purchased to be used with our English Language Learners program.


Our faculty consists of the following degrees:  21 with Bachelor’s degrees, 33 with Master’s degrees, seven with Specialist’s degrees and two with doctorate degrees.  The Faculty at Newnan Crossing includes one Principal, two assistant principals, one media specialist, 2  speech and language pathologists, one Physical Education teacher,  one music teacher, an art paraprofessional, two REACH teachers, one part time educational technology specialist, one guidance counselor, one psychologist, one Title I teacher, three full time EIP teachers, one ELL teacher, one pre-kindergarten teacher,  41 regular classroom teachers, four Special Education resource teachers, 16 teacher assistants, 2 Title I paraprofessionals, one secretary, one clerk, one bookkeeper, a school nurse, a permanent substitute, seven school food service workers, and six custodians.  All teachers are evaluated using the Teacher Appraisal System.
