There is a large selection of Graphic Novels, Enhanced Novels, eBooks, classic literature, National Geographic videos, educator resources, and audiobooks. The collection is available online around the clock. No downloads, no waiting! If you can access the internet, you can be reading, watching, or listening to fantastic content. Mission of the media center:
The Northgate High School Media Center supports the school’s academic curriculum by fostering each student’s independent inquiry, critical thinking skills, and research skills. The purpose of the program is to teach successful search strategies, facilitate successful use of technology, and encourage lifelong reading and learning.
The Northgate Media Center supports this goal by:
providing students and staff with resources, both print and electronic, to support the school's curriculum
collaborating with teachers and administrators
teaching information literacy skills to students and staff
making the media center an inviting space
providing a school Website that disseminates information to parents, students, staff, and the community
Monday - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday -8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Thursday -8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
A general pass must include the student's name, the time, the purpose of their visit, and the teacher's signature.
A pass IS required during lunch to ensure the student is not missing class.
A pass IS NOT required before or after school.
Checkout and Returns
Students may check out books from the collection for two-week intervals and may renew them unless they have been requested by another student.
Items being returned to the media center should be placed in the Book Drop slot at the Circulation Desk, otherwise they might not be checked in properly.
Students may check out up to 5 books as long as they do not have a overdue book or fine.
Fees and Fines
A copy machine is available for copying school-related materials. Copies are 10¢ each.
Printing is available for 10¢ per page. The color printer is $1.00 per full page.
Overdue fines for students are 10¢ a day per book for each school day.
Student overdue notices will be issued regularly. Fines should be paid as soon as possible.
Students are also responsible for replacement costs of lost or damaged books. The replacement cost is the purchase price shown after the title on notices.

GALILEO is an online library portal to authoritative, subscription-only information that isn’t available through free search engines or Web directories. Participating institutions may access over 200 databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals. Over 10,000 journal titles are provided in full-text.
