Welcome to Newnan High School's online review for the Georgia High School Graduation Test.  This test, given to students in Georgia the first time the spring of their Junior year, is mandatory for graduation.  The test is given in the four core subject areas that all students are expected to master: Math, Social Studies, English and Science.  This practice test will focus on the Social Studies; World and United States History, Civics and Social Studies Skill areas.  Using the buttons to the left of this screen, you can practice for the exit exam in all areas and have it graded online.  You can print this out or have it emailed to Newnan High School for your teacher or tutor.  Each section is broken down into a manageable 25 questions, so that it won’t be too many questions at one time.  Take your time, read each question and answer carefully, and choose the best answer.  Here are some additional test-taking tips that can aid you in the passing of the test the first time!

v      Read everything carefully- The instructions, question, all four answers, all stimulus materials. (Graph, Reading passage, map, table, etc…)

v      Consider every answer choice: eliminate as many as possible /watch for attractive distracters/ watch for none or all of the above/ check each answer with the stimulus until you arrive at the one answer.

v      Spend time wisely:  come back to difficult questions.

v      Check your work when finished.

v      Exit Exam questions can be long or wordy.  Don’t allow “test fatigue” to keep you from giving your best effort, especially for the last 20 questions.  Also, just because a question is long does not mean that it is hard.

v      Dates are usually unimportant in this test unless they are in the title of something, such as a treaty or compromise.

v      Do NOT miss questions with answers on the test…maps, paragraphs, charts, etc…
